Our clients chose Ashbourne in Light Blue when they desperately wanted to update the kitchen in their beautiful old cottage, and get some much needed light into what was a large, open dining/kitchen space.
To keep everything light, a Silestone Blanco Maple quartz worktop was fitted to the sink and hob areas, which contrasted perfectly with the solid oak breakfast bar, which gave a lovely homely feel to this charming cottage.
Whilst we had initially planned to remove the original chimney breast, further investigation revealed that this was not structurally feasible. Our solution was to build a new false chimney breast around the original, but with much more aesthetically pleasing proportions.
The finishing touch was flooring – the majority of the downstairs floor was a dark quarry tile, which the client was understandably reluctant to remove. So we fitted Quickstep Exquisa tile-effect laminate over the existing flooring. As you can see from the before and after photos – along with the lighter units and worktops – this made the whole space feel so much lighter, and the clients were thrilled with the finished result.
